Authentication
Create ReWords.AI API keys on the website, send them as a bearer token, and keep your keys and webhook secret safe.
Get a key
- Sign in at rewords.ai with the account you want to bill.
- Buy an API pack — an edit pack or an OCR pack. API balance is separate from website credits: website credits cannot be used for the API, and API packs do not add website credits.
- Open your API keys page and create a key. You can create keys once your account has API balance.
Each account can have up to 5 keys at a time (for example one per environment). Revoked keys do not count. If you want to see the output quality before buying, edit one image free on the website.
Use the key
Every request needs your API key in the Authorization header:
Authorization: Bearer rw_live_your_key- A missing, unknown or revoked key returns
401 invalid_api_key. - The full key is shown once, when you create it. Store it in a secret manager, never in front-end code or an app bundle.
- You can rename or revoke any key on the API keys page. A revoked key stops working within a minute.
- Every key on your account shares the same balance and rate limit.
- When your balance runs out, your keys stay valid and requests return
402until you buy another pack. - The scheme is not case-sensitive:
Bearerandbearerboth work.
Webhook secret
Your account also has one webhook secret (whsec_...), shown on the same API keys page. It signs the
webhooks we send you. Keep it on your server like an API key; if it leaks, reset it on the API keys
page and update your receiver.
